Jackalope Study

This is already a month or so old, didn't get around to scanning it before.
Something from our last metal graphics class, I wanted to experiment something.

Nowadays the copper plates are usually coated with a liquid hard base when etching, but back in the day they only used these bases you put on with heat, but there are often tiny holes in this kind of base. Wanted to try it.
This is supposed to imitate those old animal studies explorers would draw when they encountered a new species. I tried to fit some Jackalope lore in this. They are said to be able to mimick any sound, even human voices, so I drew one with throat structure like that of a human's. Another piece of legend here is that there are so few Jackalopes in the world because they only breed during electrical storms.
Most of these are printed with natural Sepia ink to enhance that old sketch effect.
