Guardian Lion Jinby *Gomis

I've just done some referenc-y stuff and doodles lately, sorry. ;w;

ANYWAY! This is a new character of mine, called Jin. She's a shishi/foo-dog/komainu/chinese guardian lion/whatever you want to call them.
She was originally a foo-dog statue made from [or probably in reality coated with because expensive metals are... Expensive] gold and silver, and at first she was super happy about doing such an important job guarding a temple. But as decades went by she started to get bored when she realised guarding meant just sitting in one sport all the time. She wanted to go adventuring!
So she broke out of her statue shell and traded places with a passing qilin who was more than happy to guard a temple.
Now Jin is adventuring all over the place to her hearts content, but she has promised to return to the temple once she's satisfied with adventuring.

She's an energetic, happy, optimistic and rowdy kind of person. Created to be a guardian, she is very loyal to her friends and has a strong sense of justice, and if she sees someone who needs help, especially protection from someone evil/morally shady sort of person, she just can't turn her back on people who need help!

Aww, this is pretty awesome. I love Chinese lions so much. Jin is wicked looking. Makes me wanna draw her out. ^^

I really like the idea that she's made from expensive metals and has an important position/job...like she has that noble air to her, but quite a different personality :>
But yup, I really like foo dogs and she looks great! I especially like the leg armour for some reason?

Ah, thanks! 83 Yeah, I imagine most Guardian Lions are probably really dull guys because they actually want to just sit in front of something for ages. 8'''D Jin must've been positioned in front of some really important temple.
Thanks~ 8D I used photos of some guardian lion statues as refs and noticed that some of them had leg armor, decided to try it out because her face/neck area is full of details, the legs would've looked empty without the armor.

Haha, I imagine them as having given up any dreams they had and became boring guys because they're confined to watching over temples...I never actually thought of them trying to escape!
One of the things I like most about going to temples is looking at the statues and wall carvings, often they look wicked awesome and are great monster inspiration 8D
